late, i know, as it's been waiting for me in my firefox tabs forever: matt taibbi's (♥) article on the ins and outs of the financial crisis The Big Takeover - The global economic crisis isn't about money - it's about power. How Wall Street insiders are using the bailout to stage a revolution.
my mom has a terrible sense of direction. she is always, ALWAYS, 100%, wrong when it comes to guessing which direction is correct. still she feels compelled by what her instinct tells her and continues and has always continued to make the wrong decision. it's an excellent sense of direction, really, as long as she ignores her instinct and does the exact opposite of what she thinks she should do. she says, "what if it's the one time i'm right?"
as i've managed to inherit my perpetual wrongness from her (i am as right about my self perception as she is about navigation) i've decided to just not listen anymore. i'm just going to turn off the voice - or at least listen to what i know will be wrong and understand that it will be wrong.
i think this is a good idea.
that and the idea of maybe, which t. insists that i adopt as my mantra.
i think this is a good idea as well.
